There have just been ***UNCONFIRMED*** reports on the news that elements of Saddam's Republican Guard may be in negotiations with allied troops to arrange a surrender.
I saw on the news earlier that Saddam had allegedly said "No British troops will leave Iraq alive."

Just think of all the millions of dollars/pounds it's cost to get the troops there, keep them there, do all this bombing and then send the troops in... just so they can surrender without a shot fired! This must rank as one of the most expensive wars in terms of money to fighting ratio.

Now reports that a US Chinook carrying US and UK troops has crashed in Kuwait while returning from operations inside Iraq. Crew of 4 and up to 22 troops could have been on board.
It "does not look good" according to the early reports.
That's now TWO US choppers that have gone down without actually being hit!
