Dennis Bergkamp has been fined £7,500 by the Football Association and given a reprimand and warning over his future conduct after admitting elbowing Lee Bowyer.

The Arsenal striker was charged with improper conduct following the incident during Arsenal's 3-1 win over West Ham on January 19.

He held his hands up over the clash and did not request a personal hearing so an FA disciplinary committee met to hand out their punishment.

The Hammers were furious when Bergkamp appeared to elbow Bowyer seconds before crossing for Thierry Henry to head his second goal in the 3-1 victory.

Considering he didn't actually do anything wrong, I think it's harsh.

I think the FA only fined him because they're a bit strapped for cash.

Given that this is the second violent conduct charge Bergkamp has been on the wrong end of this season alone, I just can't see why he hasn't been fined at least a week's wages and been handed at least a two match ban.

Someone is pushing money into FA pockets methinks

I'm sure if it had been the other way round,Bowyer would have received heavier punishment because of his reputation.

No player should get away with this behavior.

Dear God, he might have to re-mortgage his house after such a hefty fine. I'm sure such audaciously severe puishment will ensure he never does such a thing ever again.

Good old biased FA.
