Yet another post inspired by the conflict in Iraq.
This morning the war started with a pre-emptive strike reported to be aimed at five "senior members" of the Iraqi regieme. To start with lets call a spade a spade and this action an assasination attempt. There has been much speculation that Saddam himslef was one of the targets, and since then there has been a "live" broadcast from Saddam condemning Bush's actions. The thing is the guy in the chair, well, he didn't look that much like the Saddam we've seen in the past, or even in the last few days, and it's well known that Saddam uses look a likes. The question is what would happen if Saddam were killed? Could a look a like be installed to live in his place and continue his regieme.
Another thought is if you had your own doppelganger what would you do. How much could you get away with. I suppose this is also inspired by last nights documentary on identical twins, which I found really interesting. Seeing them order the same food at the same time was very interesting, as was the reaction of family members, who apparently weren't fooled when they tried to switch places. I was also interested in the environmental conditioning difference of the nurse and her twin when shown gruesone film of operations.
I was also quite interested in the twin in her nurse's uniform and her sister, in the armed forces gear, but that's for an entirely different reason ;)

Perhaps one of the most important questions, not just for whether a bunch of phoney Saddams could be used if the real one died, but for the goals of the war generally, would have to be whether Saddam really runs the show, or if the governmental infrastructure has a bunch of other people pulling various strings.

I've often thought about Saddam's many look alikes. If they do ever capture or kill him, can they be sure that they've got the real Saddam, or just one of his moustachioed henchman look-alikes? Hmmm.

Well, the idea is, that Blofeld pays a few people to have plastic surgery to look like him, trains them up, gives them voice changers, etc.
And it's all quite feasible these days, has been for a long time. God knows how many Saddams there could be. :)
