"I'll resign if we go to war"
Robin Cook resigns because we're going to war.
Claire Short, who had threatened to, "thinks about her position", to quote her own press secretaries words. Apparently she's been reassured by Tony that rebuilding in Iraq will commence rapidly, but he'd already said this before she threatened to resign.
I don't think her resigning will do any good, but the fact is she said she would, and now she isn't. Was she hoping that her threat to resign would avert war ? Probably not, but it seems somewhat ridiculous that such a vocal opponent has a U turn.
Of course, if she resigns this morning then this will be a stupid topic :D
