BBC Obituary

I'm sure you all saw this all over the news yesterday, but the creator of Bagpuss, The Clangers, Ivor the Engine and Noggin the Nogg (a surreal Norse tale).

Children of the 60's and 70's like myself will have grown up with his work, particularly Bagpuss which ran from 1974 through to the 80's and is now repeated on Nick Classics.

Postgate and Firmin, his working partner on the series, created some of the most magical television I've ever seen and he will be missed, not least because his soothing voice is synonymous with childhood for many children.

Yeah, it ran right through the 80's. I was 2 when Bagpuss started.

They should bring it back, but then they'd only try to change the format (cartoon or something) and it just wouldn't work.

80ies kids too (not the 90ies kids though, they missed out on so much), I loved watching Bagpuss, The Clangers, Ivor the Engine and Noggin the Nog. RIP and thanks for all the great shows, I'll definitely pass them on to my own children.
