After turning down and 11% payrise last year, and turning down a 16% payrise only a week or two ago should they be offered a payrise at all after displaying that they are unwilling to have the service modernised and still want a pay increase to around the £30k mark.
I say that they should stop being so selfish - they are some of the highest paid public service workers. Firemen should be grateful for what they're earning as I'm sure many nurses that help save peoples lives EVERY day (not just when they get a phone call for a cat stuck up a tree)would like to be earning what they're currently earning!
That's the way that I see it, anyhow.
They;re right to refuse the pay-rises. So long as they continue to refuse to take them for another 20 years and stop bloody striking.
