So it's Comic Relief time again. Whoopee! Look at all of those celebrities kindly donating their time and acting really stupid, in the name of charity!!!

Do you think game characters would also have to suffer these awful charity events?

Gaming Relief

The Mario brothers hosting an evening of 'entertainment' trying to raise a little cash for those less fortunate. People viewing at home would phone in, offering to pledge money, but only if Mario can juggle for 30 seconds.

Also in the studio would be other gaming characters, Solid Snake sitting in a bath of baked beans.

"Mr Snake, I'm afraid that we got the timing wrong, you'll have to remain in there for another two hours!"

"Damn."

From here we would cut to a more serious appeal. Joanna Dark, in a hospital.

"Please donate all that you can. These are some of the characters you'll be helping. Look at this poor NPC from Skies of Arcadia. His polygon's are all smudgy. With your money we can clean him up. Outside, things are worse. If you take a look out of the window you will see awful jaggies on those Namco cars. With your money we can ensure that the next Ridge Racer does away with such awful things."

Back in the studio, they've got a comedy sketch going on.

Donkey Kong is dressed as Lara Croft, complete with wig and fake breasts. He/she knocks down a bunch of characters in masks, before swinging across a vine. As he reaches for a piece of treasure a great big ape steps in the way to stop him. As they fight they knock each other out, and the ape's mask falls off, revealing the real Lara Croft!

Luigi feigns laughter as the camera returns to him. "Let's take a look at how much we've raised so far."

Princess Peach stands by a giant calculator, and jumps on the 'equals' sign, revealing that the donations are coming in thick and fast.

"Thank you for all of your kind donations so far" says Mario "Please, keep on giving. Lets take a look at some of the other sponsored events going on in the studio.

The camera cuts to Kirby, sucking up cars in the car park.

"As you can see" says Samus "Kirby has swallowed half a dozen cars so far, but he's sure that he's got room for more. The Umbrella Corp have kindly agreed to donate £1000 for each car that he can suck in, so we'll all be cheering him on here."

"Let's take another look at where your money is going!" Says Luigi, back in the studio.

"Ah Bonjour!" Says Rayman "Welcome to the gamers retirement village. This place is funded fully by charitable donations, and is a resting home for those characters who's franchises have disappeared, or left them behind. After giving so much enjoyment, they deserve to get a little something back. Current residents include Alex Kidd, and Pit from Kid Icarus. They live on the eggs of Alfred Chicken, and wear garments knitted by Granny, of Granny's Garden fame, from the wool gathered by Bubsy the Bobcat. You money will help pay to heat the building, and provide fun activities for these characters from bygone days."

"Thank you Rayman" says Mario. "Now time for something a little different, Monkey Ball on Ice!"

The show cuts to a large ice rink, on which we can see 4 monkeys gracefully skating, with the upper parts of their badys encased in of a ball. They perform some nice flowing movies, before dramatic music signals the entrance of Dr Bad Boon. He makes a speech in monkey talk, and a cource drops in form the ceiling. One of the monkeys, Aiai, is trapped within it. Dr Bad Boon skates around, laughing menacingly. Aiai, however, manages to skate through the courses many traps, performing all manner of stunts as he does so. Further courses appear, which the other monkeys complete, before defeating Bad Boon for good.

"That was amazing" Says Luigi as we return to the studio. "How much have we managed to raise now?"

The worms, of 'Worms' fame appear on the screen, and shoot a rocket into the sky. The amount of cash raised appears in colourful lights.

"Wonderful!" says Mario. "But I shall double that money right now if Wario comes up here in a dress, and sings "I'm a Little Teapot"

There's a cheer from the crowd, and a few moments pass before Wario appears in a low-cut red number. With some prompting on the actions from Waluigi he manages to pull off a perfect rendition of the popular childrens rhyme.

"Let's take a look at some of the other ways we're raising money" Says Luigi, before passing over to Eastern correspondent, Sonic the Hedgehog.

"Well Luigi, we've got Conker here, and a massive swear box. For every profanity, he has to donate part of his personal fortune. Just to spice it up a little we've supplied plenty of beer, and a few fire devils to keep him on his toes. He's swearing like a trooper! You'd better go before we get taken off the air!" "@#$*!"

"We apologise for that foul outburst. Please keep donating money" says Mario "Look at another of the good causes that it will go to.

Toad points us towards hoards of creatures, arms out, slowly advancing. "Zombies. Tens of thousands of them. Why? So many games have used them in recent times, and rather than deal with them, we've been encouraged to run. With just a little cash we can afford to supply the STARS team with the cash they need to buy ammunition to deal with this problem. They'll even take care of the Tediz zombies at no extra cost, which is great news as the way their stuffing comes out scares the bejesus out of me! But without your help they'll keep on advancing, and turning others to their cause."

"Thank you Toad" says Luigi, "Now for the big finale!"

Luigi runs to join an ever growing group of game characters, as they sway in unison, and sing "We are the World, We are for Gamers". The number is spiced up when Diddy Kong does a guitar solo, Link gives it a bit of class with his Ocarina, and Bowser reveals that he has a beautiful singing voice.

At the conclusion of the song, after three reprises, Mario reveals the final total raised, bending over to bear it's bottom where the huge figure has been written in biro.

Please join us again next time when we have "Game Characters In Need", and another poor quality charity show each and every month, for the rest of your life!
