Incidentally I can sympathise with Neville, I'm all alone in the flat, surrounded by the living dead and it is only safe to venture onto the streets when the Dorking massive (8-13 year olds) are tucked up in bed. They are in effect retro-vampires, darkness being my only ally.

the best thing about I am legend I think is the atmosphere, the pure loneliness of it.
The "fairytale is in fact reality" scenario is something that also is explored in The Descent, which I am devouring at an alarming rate on the train each day. I can't remember who recommended this one but thanks!
