Taken from the Beeb:

"Uefa is set to demand an explanation for why United - eight points clear at the top of Champions League Group D and with qualification secured - fielded a weakened team."

===

Can I just ask why? Is it not the managers decision as to what players he puts out on the field? What the hell has it got to do with UEFA as to who Fergie selects? Besides which, the entire game was surplus to Utds requirements, and so why would we field our strongest team when we don't even need to gain a single point from it?

If UEFA does decide to "demand explanation", I hope Fergie simply replies "It's none of your damn business".

Dear Mr Heskey,

I am hereby expressing my utmost disgust and revulsion for your continued acceptance of a place in the England team. You are obviously neither a goal scoring forward or an attacking winger and thus must simply be playing, because the manager is trying to prove how clever he is by ignoring everyone's plea for you to be dropped. They are stubborn like that.

In essence do your country a favour and announce your International retirement from the game, otherwise we will have to cite the FA for allowing their appointed manager to field a weakened team,

yours sincerely,

FIFA

When a season starts a team in the Champions League has to name 25 players it wants to feature in the competition for that season, so why is it that the players that were chosen were in those selected, yet this is still not good enough for UEFA?

The only two players that weren't regually in the first team line up or on the bench was Richardson and Fletcher.

Maybe if UTD had lost 10-0 then yeah have a word, but if they're going to be punished for drawing a Champions League game then Arsenal should be very afraid!?!?

Given that he won 4 games on the trot while Arsenal choked to a single win and three successive draws, I think the point was proven before this week's football even kicked off.

It's goo dmatch experience though. I know Fergie wouldn't like losing to Deportivo - he wants to show Arsenal what C.L. playing is all about...

It is not as if the result would have made any difference to the qualification from the group.

What about the game next Tuesday, Utd are top whatever and Deportivo cannot qualify whatever the result. A meaningless match are both teams to field their best sides, I do not think so.

WHAT?!

True - it's none of their stinking damn business! Ferguson could have played a whole team for B reserves if he wanted to!

And there I was thinking that the English FA were the ONLY simple-minded Football Association in Europe, if not the whole world!

Looks like they've got company...

It's down to the manager, he can pick whatever team he wants (the surely must be in the rule-book THEY WROTE, somewhere...)! And it's not like we've got any illegible players in our squad eiher, and any other manager would've done the same in that situation - and even have done in the past!

Sometimes these proffesional people really get to me...
It's just like having a really dopey person at work ask you a question she already knows!!
