I know this is stupid thing to post but I am doing a project at school about controversial topics at school and I chose to write about anarchists. so i need to get some input from people who know about this sort of thing or are actually anarchists themselves. I would like to hear from you so please reply or send mail to me.

To get back on topic: I'd reccommend a book called 'Anarcho-syndicalism' by Rudolf Rocker. It's a really good history of anarchist thought and practice. Inspiring in places and always interesting. You might also take a look at some books about the Spanish Civil War, which was about the closest anarchism has ever come to 'winning'. I can't think of any titles right now, but if anything comes back to me then I'll post it here.

I keep meaning to get From Hell, I've seen the film but I'm hoping the original is much better than that.

That's the fella!

Not Moore's best, but then it does have Watchmen and From Hell to measure up to...

Oi ! That's V For Vendetta ! You do mean the one by Alan Moore yeah ? It's one of my favourite graphic novels :)

Anyway, see the book at http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ ASIN/1852862912/qid=1047040357/sr=1-1/ ref=sr_1_2_1/202-6776448-2313410

It's good.

You could do worse than hunting out '1985' by Anthony Burgess; it has a lot of biographical info on the early Russian anarchists (who were peers of the Bolsheviks and tended to get lumped into the same category, even though they had little in common).

An alternative definition of anarchism (which is typically used as shorthand for "Without rules") is "Without leaders". The idea being that every single human being has a say in what decisions get made. The graphic novel "V for Victory" gives a good example of this ideal being applied (albeit with a highly idealistic conclusion!).

I'm very much into the ideals of anarchism myself; if you want any more ramblings then I'm on [email protected]
