FERGIE TO SELL STAR TURN
Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to sell one of his big-name players to help finance a £40m transfer splurge this summer, according to the Daily Express. With the club only likely to provide £15m in funds, he will have to find money from sales to fund a shopping spree. Favourite for the exit door is clearly Ryan Giggs, who has been continually linked with a move to Inter Milan.

Opinions?
If there's *any* truth in this, then...
Who will he spend £40m on? Will it be one or two big-name stars? Or has he finally learned that big spending on big stars doesn't bring success?
Given two seasons of being flops (relatively speaking, by United's standards), can they justify - to the fans and shareholders - spending multi-millions on just a couple of players?
What would the fans prefer? Do they expect big-name stars now, who - as we've seen - may have a negative effect, rather than a positive one? Or would they rather the Arsenal-style route of buying quality players at comparative bargain prices, and turn them into big names? (Rio Ferdinand - £30m; Pascal Cygan - £2.5m; no discernable difference in ability, and some would say Cygan is actually a better defender.)
Or should Fergie be allowed to buy players at all? Has he lost the plot? Should someone else make the decisions? Should Fergie make way for new blood where some have said it's most needed?
On the provision that Henry or shearer do not become atrocious for some unknown reason. Both have been linked with him. Either way Woodgate-terry, or Campbell-Terry would sure up the dodgiest spots in two excellent teams.
In fact i am going to go so far as to bet that John Terry will have a championship Medal next year. That way i am not betraying chelsea, as i feel there time has to come soon.
"I'd suggest Arsenal buy another striker to be honest..."
They're apparently interested in the French First Division's top-scorer for last-season - Djibril Cissé. Yes, them - along with 'United and Liverpool.
still twice as good

LOL!
, although I must admit that Cygan is a serious

extremely Crap would have been the words i would have used. I cant believe stepanovs isn't playing, he is crap but is still twice as good as Cygan, who is just lurch from the addams family with his head shaved
Nearest I got was Blackburn 2 Arsenal 1. That still got 4 points mind.
Man Utd would have been better of targetting Terry, Woodgate and Hofland for about the same price, than wasting their money on ferdinand.
Forlan is still an awful player, but at least he has scored a few now, and as a result man utd hould be able to recoup some of the money they spent on him.
If i were alex Ferguson I would also be inclined to sell Wes brown. Although a quality young defender, i'm not sure he will ever be a consistent regular for united as he seems to be very injury prone, however is likely to fetch a relatively high price. I'd sign Terry or Hofland and use O'shea, ferdinand and the signing as my 3 primary centre backs. Veron really ought to go as he is an unnecessary salable asset.
For arsenal i have to admit they have the midfield and forwards sorted out perfectly. They have a solid left back and one world class centre back in sol campbell.
To complete a world class team i feel they need 2 high class centre backs, a right back (as lauren is pretty poor and a keeper.
I'd Suggest:
Rustu (free transfer)
Geremi(6 mill)
Terry (8/9 mill)
Chivu (12 mill)
This may be a little more than arsenal usually spend but those players all have more than 10 years left in them (apart from rustu who would be free). Or it could be partially financed by the sale of fringe players like Kanu, jeffers and Cygan and the likes who are severely out of place in a championship side. especially arsenal havent spent big recently and could expect about 12.5 mill return for those players.
Then the arsenal team would be near perfection.
