My attention was first captured by a newsreader urging viewers that

"If you're a ruddy duck, get out of the country now!"

Normally I'm not concerned with such bit stories at the end of the news, but I watched on to hear the problem, which is that the ruddy duck that was introduced to this country from North America in the 1940's. Apparently the ruddy duck is a horny little devil (and apparently blessed with an 8in penis) and is mating with native white headed duck and creating a new hybrid.

The RSPB (yes, that's the Royal Society for the PROTECTION of Birds) now wants to cull all the ruddy ducks in the country in order to preserve the white headed ducks.

Now I realise that these Ruddy Ducks were introduce to the country by man, but whatever happened to natural selection? If one species is suppressed by a new species is that such a bad thing.

Just like keeping pedigrees in dogs and cats and creating pure breeds that suffer from all sorts of inherited diseases and conditions. Surely that is just as wrong.

To top it all off, apparently the cost of the cull meant it would be cheaper to fly all the ruddy ducks back to America in business class.

Instead of getting rid of the Ruddy Ducks we should get rid of the ruddy dogs. Disgusting hairy nuisances that foul the pavements with their muck and barking at anything that moves.

If this means I can order duck in a restaurant without having to pay minimum £12 for a course, then I'm all for it.
