PS2 is so expensive because the sony company knew so many people had bought the origonal playstation so if they designed one with better graphics and a little bonus(DVD player)it would be out os stock in no time and they would make a very large profit.

That last post was extremely relavent, and why shoudn't I be pleased? I as also lucky enough to get one of remarkable machines. Before I go any further, I'd like to mention a couple of things.

2. My main goals on this forum are to make lots of wise friends over the net, and try to win a PS2 game in the game-a-day draw. I've only got Timesplitters, and I have tried ssoooooo hard to get another and failed. :( Probably because I am a bad writer. :(

I av to agree with Mattyboy! For the money you are basically getting six machines. There are PS1 games, PS2 games, DVDs, CDs and well as the oppertunity to get broadband internet access in the near future. All this for £300. In the real world that is a lot of money, but for what the PS2 does, that price tag is a bargain. Many people just look at the actual price and think, 'expensive!' This is without actually seeing though what the PS2 can really do. My mate bought a Philips (which is a respectabke company) DVD player for £200. I compared the same film (M:I-2) with my PS2 and could see no difference in the play quality. For what it is capable of, not to mention great playability in games and massive future titles such as GT2000 and MGS2, the PS2 looks great. One of the best Christmas presents I ever got!!

I dont think the PS2 is that expensive when you think about what it is capable of. Look what you are presented with: A console garaunteed to last you for at least the next five years(+), PS2 and PSOne games meaning already a choice of 600+ titles, DVD functions which are more than impressive, next generation online capabilities, and some future titles which are just UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Give it 6 Months and you will see why it is so expensive, even though the price is not bad at the moment as it is!
