Okay, what i want to know is this: In whichever medium you like (games, films, TV, music) I want you you to think of a situation that occured because either the artist/actor/company etc which to hype up something, make it big and make some money from it - and then decide weather or not you think they ultimately got away with it...
need an example?
right, back in the `90`s, dance band The Shamen released "Ebeneezer Goode" accompanied by a rather sarcastic video. Much of the public, the press and other groups latched onto the fact that the song was entirely about mind-altering drugs and their effects, despite denials by both One Little Indian (the record label) and The Shamen themselves... The record hit No1 in the chart, sold bucketloads and made a nice little earner, thank you very much!!!! However, after the band`s break-up two years ago, frontman and rapper Mr C said in an interview that although it couldn`t be admitted to at the time, everyone was correct, the song was a drug anthem.
So who won out of this?
Did we win because we were right all along about the band`s song and its motives?
Or did we lose because because in the light of recorded deaths of people like Leah Betts from LSD its will mean material like this will be handled with more restrain in future?
Or do we both lose because the only winners here are The Shamen (wherever they may be now...) because of all the cash and publicity they recieved....????
Return you answers on this if you wish - but can you think of any other situations of a similar theme???
Hopefully, a bit more of a thought-provoking topic than the usual "what song are you listening to" ones that are always appearing.
There, and not a single mention of Star Trek.... DOH!!!

Hate to be picky but it was Ecstasy she took or MDMA (Main component) and it was a related death. Not a direct cause.
The guy's name in the song is ebeneezer because the particular brand of E at the time was Ebony, and the song is actually saying
E's are good
E's are good
These Ebony's are good
Lucy. Sky. Diamonds. LSD.

Who cares about Leah Betts. If you're going to take dope for non-medicinal purposes and wind up dead TOUGH LUCK you were probably no great loss to society anyway
Just my 2cents

You should have heard William Shatner’s version of that. Hilarious.
