How in God's name do you start up in MS-DOS mode?

I've looked at all the Shutdown Commands in the command prompt, but there's nothing about rebooting and starting in MS-DOS.

So, what I need to know is, is how to start up in MS-DOS.

It's OK now.

I had Win XP in, and wanted to take that out, and install 98.

So to do that, I had to run Setup from DOS during start-up.

Everythings sorted, cheers again.

You could also try making a bootdisk, although iirc this won't allow you access to your Windows installation. What do you need DOS for?

No probs. I also couldn't get into Dos, so I booted with my Win98 cd in and you can choose "Run from CD" or "Run from Hard Drive"

Anyway, I ran from Hard Drive and then exited the setup program (Which was in Dos) and then I was left with an MS-DOS prompt.

Sorted.

Yeah, I'm ok with BIOS.

Ok. Put in your Windows CD. And choose "Boot From CD" in BIOS.

Then its pretty simple.

Dont mess about with BIOS if you've never used it before mind..
