On the news yesterday they were talking about the new agreed building for the WTC site. There were pics but I can't find one on the net right now.

It's not really a surprise that they are going for a new record for the world's tallest building, it's the American way. More interestingly, though, is that they are only having one tower, and that the new structure will incorporate the remains of the last buildings.

No it won't, because the whole point is that this new tower goes up, and in all probability the new measures will mean they can't touch it. Look at what's happened since 9/11, when was the last successful terrorist attack in the west since then ? Hasn't been one, instead we are seeing attacks in peripheral world regions where security is not so tight - Bali for example. The terrorists, and Al Queda, are being constantly hunted, only hours ago top al Qaeda operative Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and two other men were arrested in Pakistan. http://www.fbi.gov/mostwant/ terrorists/terkmohammed.htm

Eventually we will find Bin Laden, he has to be lucky constantly, we just have to narrow it down to a blast radius....

Well as they weren't defeated exactly why would they admit defeat?

Ye, they are going to build the globes tallest building there...
and on the floors were the plane hit they are going to build a museum, yes a museum were the plain hit...
The Americans will just not admit defeat will they, leaving the site alon or turing it into a memorial garden will be like admiting that they have been defeated...
But wont building a bigger tower encourage terrorists to terrorise it in the future?
If you ask me (wich none of you are) the new tower is a huge mistake, and they are going to be paying for it in years to come...

I've seen the pictures of it and the way it looks is horrible, however it does send a defiant message to the rest of the world showing that you'll have to do a whole lot more to keep the American spirit down.

I think that its a good idea to build a bigger tower, its sort of like a "You cant crush us" message. Provided that it's built in a more structurally sound way than the WTC, im all for it.
