Right how many came in here expecting me to talk about how great they are? Be serious..

All I want to know is do you think some get the same thrill from them as others get from mucky movies?

Just I seen this girl reading one on the train and she had a huge grin on her face. Minutes later she was asleep.

Its the only reason I can find to why these people read them. Surely experiencing these things is better than reading about it. A bit like buying a playboy for the articles.

I would highly recommend it.
I read it after the Ogre bought it home for me one day because he knows it is my fav film.

I wasn't aware that the film was an adaptation of a book. I'll have to look it up after I've read "I am Legend" et al.

It has romance in it. More than the film.

But it's not one of those Barbara Cartland tripes filled with maidens and handymen.
That stuff just doesn't do it for me

I don't read many books but I really liked "Inconceivable", it's not just a romance novel it's a comedy to. They made a film about it called "Maybe Baby" but that was pretty poor.

If it's anything like the film, it's hardly what I'd class as a romance novel...

The Princess Bride is a fantastic book and I recommend it.
Even to you fiercely macho, non-repressed alpha-males.

It's like watching soaps or something. |My girlfriend read a few romance novels a while back, and was always trying to tell me about plot points:

"Oh, this guy's really bad, he's sleeping around and he doesn't care"
"Oh, this girl's cheated on her boyfriend"

Yadda yadda yadda.

Like I care?

Girl's brains are designed to pump comforting and pleasurable drugs whenever they think of Romance, as this leads to Love which in turn means someone "who will look after me and the kids and never get to go out with their mates and someone to nag, bring down on a daily basis and generally make their life less fun than it could be". Stability and nest building, pah!

Mills and Boon have a lot to answer for.
