I wonder when the game companies are going to realise that the fairer sex can actually use a controller and what's more understand the complexities of gaming. It seems to me that everything is at present geared to the male of the species.

On the suject of sexism in games does anyone remember when the Gamegirl was released/ It was just a pink gameboy, but there were special games released at the same time as it. Mostly barbie games!

Did you know that there's a girls/female interest section in SRs club magazine?

Yes, I took down the address yesterday, I'm trying to decide on either a passport photograph, or one thats lying around elsewhere.

My wife is opposed to me sending the passport photo, and wants to find a better one.

I promise to have a photograph in the post to you by the end of the weekend though.

Would you also like me to write a bunch of stuff about how great gameaday is so you can quote me?

My wife likes to play games. At the moment she is enjoying DK64. I have to do some of the bonus games for her though.

And difficult jumping bits.

Oh, and some of the swimming.

She also likes Goldeneye, and was very pleased when she beat some of my friends during one of our 'Nintendo nights'!

Best of all she likes games that give her some power, such as Sim City, or Civilisation.

When my brother got Harvest Moon for the GameBoy, she worked that lil' farmer boy all night long.

It does seem stereotypical to treat games as girl games and boy games though... just like saying blue is for boys only, and pink for girls... Although I wouldn't recommend dressing your baby boy up in pink, it may affect him later in life.

I do know females (GOOD GOD!), err... females that play games, and those who do don't just stick to platformers and puzzlers. Favourite game of my friend at the moment is Perfect Dark.

Also, are controllers really designed for the male in mind? It is known that women have smaller hands, yes, but the controller is not purposely designed for males... and surely the "childish" games of Nintendo realise that 50% of children are female?

Going back to the subject of sex games... (*cough*)

Certainly some games are designed for the female or male, such as... let me think of a game designed for the female in mind... Ah! Of course! You know the one I'm thinking of!

Barbie Race and Ride.

Now let's just stick with this for the moment. Although I never played with Barbie as a child, I can say that I've never had the earge to do so in all my life. So I expect Barbie orientated games are for the female in mind. And I suppose Action Man could put us back in Equalibrium.

So maybe games are directed at a certain sex, yes... but that doesn't have to restrict the opposite sex from playing the game. So who really is the sexist one? The producers, or the gamers?

(That was quite corny.)

One last thing. The most popular game at the moment?

Snake on a mobile phone.
