Hi,
Haven't been doiing much Web Design, but I'm finally getting round to making some more pages. But does anyone know if there are any PHP forums scripts I could implement into a page I've created? I don't want to use YaBB or anything like that because I won't be able to use my Nav bar and it would look out of place.

Thanks in advance

Quite a few of the downloadable scripts for BBs can be configured to fit in with other systems. They often have included header and footer files that can contain images, menus, buttons etc. that you already use. The popular phpBB2 can be rather slow, but you might like to consider Phorum.

If it's of any use/interest, I know the people behind Ikonboard have started a hosted, fully customisable PHP version.

To learn PHP for yourself and make your own forums from scratch, try http://php.net or http://phpbuilder.com

Depends how simple/complex you want your Forum.

One like Monkey_man has is a simple "write text to file and display". Whereas one like the SR Forums are complex, login, check user, write their name, time dat of post, location, replies etc etc...

There are free Forums available one some sites which are just code, so you can implement them to your site ... or use the code to help teach yourself the right stuff to write your own:

http://www.zend.com/links/links.php?CID=50
http://www.hotscripts.com/
http://www.scriptsearch.com/

.. are just a few free sites which PHP Script listings available for download.

I did start a similar thread once, but that was ages ago and you might have some difficulty finding it, but it was exactly what I needed to get me started on the glorious path to PHP forums. It didn't have logins or anything, just a bog-standard example of how to ammend and write to variables.

Continue this excellent work...
Brilliant! As usual the careful and intuitive production that Freeola puts into everything it sets out to do, I am delighted.
Wonderful...
... and so easy-to-use even for a technophobe like me. I had my website up in a couple of hours. Thank you.
