Just typed a thousand words in Word, and Word randomly decided to close down. No errors, no asking to save, nothing.

PLEASE TELL ME i CAN GET MY WORDS BACK???

Have you looked in your documents directory for any backup that Word might have saved? These are usually pretty obvious, called something like ~$filename.doc

These are usually deleted automatically when Word shuts down, but if it closed due to a bug/crash there's a chance it may still be there.

Other than that, it's probably gone. If you plan to re-type it, just make sure that you turn on Word's auto-save feature!

I'm not sure how to get it back now, sorry.

However, I know somewhere there is the ability to switch on 'autosave' or something like this, which gives the file a place to save on your computer until you've given it a name yourself.

So, should something happen and you haven't saved it, Word has already got it saved on your computer and will bring it back up for you.

Unfortunatly, I'm not sure where this feature is hidden, so hopefully someone else here will know where ... or you may know what I mean, and be able to locate it yourself.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Yup, it's not there. I've started typing it all out again, but if anyone can find a way of getting my words back, I will owe them BIG TIME.

Have you tried opening word again? It sometimes keeps the inormation there when you open it again.
