Jeff Hardy vs Jericho
A pretty good match. Some good spots here and there especially the powerbomb off the top rope and for once in a PPV Jeff Hardy didn't screw up which is always a good thing.
RVD and Kane vs Regal and Storm
an ok match nothing special apart from when Regal got dumped on his head by Kane early in the match, which lead to an embarrasing spot where Kane tried to pick him up and Regal weren't moving so Kane after about a minute deciding what to do finally decides to pin him. If it weren't for HHH holding these 2 guys down then RVD and Kane might be successful and RVD definitly deserves it.
Matt Hardy vs Kidman
Crusierweight match yet not all that much high flying action. Bring some of the Luchadors (sp?) from WCW in to spice up that division, now that's high flying action.
Big Show vs Undertaker.
I thought this match was going to be boring and it was until near the end when Undertaker flew over the top rope on A-train (they fire d-lo brown but not this big lump of non-talent?) and Paul Heyman. One of the moves of the night in my opinion. Nice way to finish the match as well. However until they find someone Big Show's size they can't do much with him in an actual match.
Lesnar + Benoit vs Team Angle
A decent match however the two angle followers don't really cut it for me as high card wrestlers. They're around low to mid card at best. Would have liked to see Rhyno appear but he didn't so ah well. I wish every time Angle and Benoit got together they wouldn't do that your submission hold, now my submission hold, oh no back to your submission hold again as it's getting boring. Unless they find new ways to reverse the holds they should ration it out a bit.
HHH vs Steiner
YAWNNNNNN another HHH win howwwwww surprising. Steiner however looked a bit better in the ring then he did in the royal rumble. Who will HHH actually decide to job to? because this is just getting boring and quite frankly calling Evolution the new 4 Horseman as some people have been over the internet is just blasphemous. No one on Evolution even has an ounce of the talent the 4 Horseman did. (Obviously excluding Flair seeing as he was apart of both groups :-) )
Austin vs Bischoff
This match made up for the bore-a-thon that was the last match. The crowd just exploded when Austin came out and that is, i think, the loudest reception i have ever heard for anyone including Hogans return. Not really a match just Austin kicking the living hell out of Bischoff aiding on by a lot of WHAT!!! chants by the crowd (which incidentally i hope Austin has kept for his promos as i loved that) great to see the rattlesnake back hopefully he can now take the strap of Cripple H and do us all a favour by taking up some of HHH promo time on RAW.
Rock vs Hogan
Another great match. Bit short but it was alright. The Rock is sooooo much better as a heel than a babyface and it was great to see him back again. Highlights of the match for me had to be when Rock put on hogans bandana and proceeded to beat the hell out of Hogan with it on and also the double peoples elbow or whatever it's going to be called from now on. Good ending i have to admit i didn't see that coming. Once again another screwjob in Montreal. Must be something about that city :)
Anyway as a whole the PPV was ok up until the final 2 matches then it just exploded. Obviously they were saving the best, most entertaining matches for last and they didn't disappoint with either Rock and hogan's first match back or Austin's return. It'll be interesting to see what happens on RAW with Austin and Bischoff now. Maybe another Vince vs Austin type storyline. Solid performances for all those in the PPV apart from The Lame but well i'm not really going to waste anymore words on him. I would have payed for the PPV just to see Austin back really and as you can probably tell i'm still buzzing from it. Wrestlemania next and hopefully a Austin vs HHH match so that big nosed freak (sorry just one last thing said about him then i'll drop it hehe) will finally lose the belt.
Yeah, I'll agree, but I still think HHH must win over Steiner.
>Steiner was getting BOOED, HHH was cheered.
Don't forget they were in Canada and HHH is canadian and they always cheer their home boys.
Jericho, as always, was fantastic. The crowd were lapping him up and so was I, as he and Jeff pulled off a top match. The Tag Title match had a nice twist at the end, the Cruiser Title match was pretty good (Matt Hardy rules), and they tried with Taker and Show (Taker's leap over the ring was amazing.)
The 5-man tag was good with some nice touches leading into WM, and Steiner vs HHH...well, I'm gonna have to say this, and some of you won't like it but still. {:)
Compare HHH to Steiner...Steiner is slow, boring and looks lost in the ring. HHH commands the ring, and is a great brawler and a decent technical wrestler, as well as a good actor. Steiner was getting BOOED, HHH was cheered. Steiner is nothing to HHH, and HHH should have won the match...and I'm happy he did. This makes WM much more interesting. Steiner...well, I dunno what I'd do with him.
As you said, the last two matches were great fun, and Rocky rules. The nice little referee touch only added to that feeling.
WWE is hopefully getting back on the right track with NWO...bring on WM.
I'll have to watch the repeat me thinks.
Here's a question. Why give Kidman the Cruiserweight title and then just drop him? It didn't make sense to me. As soon as Kidman gets that title, any push he had dies. At least, it might set up Hardy V Rey like it was supposed to be. They could have added Shannon Moore and Kidman and made it interesting.
Undertaker V Big Show was just slow and plodding. The Undertaker tried his best but the Big Show is just really bad. I could watch Benoit and Angle all day. Triple H/Steiner was surreal. Steiner was getting booed out of the arena. Triple H should drop the title to someone worthwhile.
Austin's appearance blew the roof off. It was the greatest exhibition of wrestling but at least the crowd was happy. The Rock as a heel is pure genius. He knows how to play both parts. Just watching the Rock's reactions to stuff was enough for me. The match was typical with posing and huge gaps between moves. The screwjob worked and sets up Hogan/Vince.
It was a watchable PPV. Not many outstanding matches. Take out HHH/Steiner and most of Taker/Show and it was fairly good. Not bad.
