But I honestly cannot see how or why these "legends" of the "Theatre of Dreams" would even want to or even consider leaving United at this point in their career?!
I know that The Mirror and all the rest will get all the coverage and money they desire for printing "stories" like this, but I believe they lack the real evidence to back this up. and that come next-season we, as United fans, will be laughing right back in their faces!
It's as clear-as-day to anyone, anywhere, that these 2 players have a desire and passion that is stronger than any other bond in the world. I'll even go as far to say that Ryan Giggs loves 'United even more-so than his fish (according to one-or-two rumours a few years back...), and even sheep - as a Welshman (no offence intended! :) ). And as for Mr.Beckham; does he really have a greater feeling for his control-freak of a past-it, has-been, of a wife more-so than the football club he signed for as a boy??
The fact is that these 2 players - along with many other United stars of the past and present - have a special place for 'United within their hearts. Look around the current squad and you'll see that hardly any players are actually married yet - let alone in their own relationship... And all because they know that Manchester United means more to them than it ever will, and that anything else will surely just get in their way. All except the "out-spoken" Roy Keane, perhaps....?
If Ryan Giggs or David Beckham were forced to quit the club and move-on, no matter how much money they were offered elsewhere, just because of idiotic, un-neccesary fan-pressure, then it would break their hearts - aswell as ours, as the fans.
OK, so this season - quite like the last one - hasn't perhaps gone quite-as-well as we were all expecting it have done, so far. We may be out of the FA Cup now, and Arsenal may also look well-on-their-way to their first back-to-back 'League and FA Cup Double' after our poor performances against Man. City and Bolton, there's still a great chance for us to succeed in Europe again - something that no other British club has been able to achieve for years, now, and you'll be working-hard to try and find your way into the first-team of another side with the same sense of determination and desire as Man. United have for all things bright and glorious!
Why would anyone want to even consider leaving his place in the first-team of a club on-its-way to European glory this season, after already having experienced that "thrill" only 4-years-ago?!?!
But hey; with this "awful" `Transfer Window` system in-place, it's not like they'll be going anywhere now, anyway! :D
Both players have more-or-less been "first-team regulars" throughout the past-decade, ever-since they first popped-up and impressed from the youth ranks at Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson has always had faith in his players, and even though he may not be "the same" as he was in that FA Cup Semi-Final Replay against Arsenal of '99, right now, he still knows what Ryan Giggs is capable of, what he means to the team, and that he will one-day-soon regain the form that has made him the £20m-target he is for Italian giants Inter Milan.
And as for David Beckham, it's not like his first-team place is under-threat from on-loan Luke Chadwick, or "European-only" Juan-Sébastian Veron, either. But he's earnt it, too. Not just with the odd goal, or assist, once-or-twice-every-game, or even for that strike against Wimbledon back in '96, but for what the young cockny lad has been doing for the club he left London for, year-after-year. His desire and ambition to help his beloved 'United to achieve really speaks for itself - even if many believe he is only there for the £100,000-a-week his wife forced him to "demand" from the club.
Wherever there's a goal for United, there's a David Beckham whipping the ball in before!
The truth is that neither player is gonna be going anywhere soon as they love this club all-too-much, and just want to see it do nothing but hold-off Arsenal and Liverpool, and succeed in the paths they once looked destined to follow.
No matter how many fans 'boo' and 'jeer' them from the wrong section of Old Trafford, they'll be staying put with the other 60-odd-thousand spectators roaring them on with full-support from behind!
And anyway, David Beckham had to face this once before, after England's France '98 exit, from EVERY-SINGLE Premiership ground he went to. And it's not like he walked-away back then either. In fact, that was probably what kick-started him - and United - on their way into completing a season where `The Treble` was finally won!
Could something similar happen again, this season, with the European Cup??
I look forward to seeing the names "Beckham" and "Giggs" on Fergie's team-sheets throughout next-season; whether we win anything this season, or not.
United they'll stand - just you wait and see!
He really has made a mess of things, and he's done sod-all to help things really! No new signings, no change of formation/line-ups, no nothing!
And yet the players seem to be suffering for it more than anything!
