Windows side bar has a gadget that lets you trace your IP - what a laugh when I tried it, Allegedly I am in Worcester in Cheviot Rd the map it brought up was very detailed in fact I could zoom right in and see exactly where my IP address is and I was not even in a house, the pin that shows the EXACT location was sticking in a garden shed behind a house in Cheviot Rd :)

ive had the same prob wen tryin ip address locators, i live in cambridgeshire and my ip address shows up mostly in derby which is in the midlands not east anglia and 90 miles away.
When it doesnt show my ip as in derby its always in the middle of my towns local park which covers an area of about 5 acre's and when you zoom in on the detailed satalite map the pinpoint is pointing to a wooden bench which is about 1 & a half mile away from my house.
about 12 months or so ago, i asked a friend (who works in this sort of line) about these ip locators, he told me its near on impossible for general public to get this info via software, only our isp would have info on the location of your ip and even the authorities would need a warrant to gain access to this info.
please dont take this info as gospel, its just what i was told while having a pint or 2.
maybe a member of staff could comform if ip locators even work as i see more and more companies offering this sort of info to website administrators for marketing purposes.
