My Sony MDR-ex81s arrived thismorning, and wow, the difference is phenominal, but then again these phones are the in-ear plug type things which are designed to create bass chambers in your ear, so I'd be disappointed if they were any less good than this :).
Still room for major improvement, sound seems a little muddy, but you'd need to pay a good £80 to get anything better ;).
By that I mean they seem bass heavy for my liking, and the PSP doesn't have a manual graphic equalizer to set the sound up the way I want it :).
The Sony website does say the tonal range is from 6hz up 20k or 22k, so I guess I'm getting bass response I paid for over cheap headphones.

Tis true. You never get top-quality phones when they're supplied 'free' with anything.
My ex81's broke on the train today. Damn shame, but there really is no substitute.
