Many people go on and on about the pwer of the consoles."Oh well my playstation 2 can harnes two seperate 'pong' games at once" etc! But let me tell you you won't have much fun playing 'pong' if you had to press down pins instead of buttons you would have trouble, likewise if you had to jump from one side of the room to the other to stop shooting and jump!
At Ign Cube, the people give about a 5 minute reading time description of what the GAMECUBE controller is like. Did you know that the controller's analogue stick has 255 levels of sensititity. That is to say that it takes 255 full microsized movements to go from centered to right. Like wise does the 'C'-stick, now many of you know that the C butons have gone from the controller but only to be replaced with a multi directional C-Stick that will also enable extra gameplay features.
The people, including the playstation people agreed that the controller is the best yet, and that it fits perfecyly around your hand. "You don't have a wasted or uncomfortable finger anywhere" - Igncube.com.
I think, no, in fact I know that Nintendo are on to a winner here, they have done everything right. Did you know that the Dreamcasts disc capacity was deemed acceptable at 1.3GB and the Gamecube has a smaller disc and harnesses 1.6GB The people said that no more was needded to create the best games around.
If rare can make Dinosaur Planet run on the N64, then how, with almost or over ouble the power, can we complain about the Gamecube. I think that Nintendo havelearned from all their mistakes and that this piece of Hardware could and most assuredly will be Number 1.
Now all I fear is for the games that will be produced! I hope that we don't see any pointless games and, pathetic attempts at meerly showing off a name or copyright! I believe that Nintendo, hardware wise have done all they can, now it is up to the developers to keep the Nintendo fire burning.

But I could do without 5 minutes of credits!
The worst endings are teasers for sequels that never arrive, or not on the same platform.
I finished Shadowrun on the SNES, and there was a look out for Shadowrun2 message at the end.
Never saw that game.
Recently discovered that Shadowrun for the Megadrive was a completely different game.

Big games would take a lot of development, a lot of money, and this would be reflected in the RRP. And how much of this extra space could be used to improve gameplay, possibly the most important factor in any game. Funnily enough, a lot of gamers like big endings, like me, because after finishing a 2 hour game like Metal Gear Solid for example, you like to get rewarded. MGS got the balance right, something like a 7 minute ending plus the 5 minutes of credits then your ranking. Quite rewarding.
Then, of course, the Final Fantasy series, always with a fantastic ending sequence.
Then you get the duffers, Ridge Racer didn't have anything memorable, Porsche Boxster was nearly non-existent, and I never saw the ending on Tetris, was there one?
But in themselves, the above 3 games were quite small and very playable. For a 300+ hour game the playability would have to be very sustained indeed, and very difficult to achieve.

It's what you do with that space that counts.
I know I've said this before, but I'd like to see this extra space be used to make huge games that take some 300+ hours of gaming to complete, with many more hidden features, rather than it being used for cut-scenes, FMV and the like.
However if games are much bigger they take us longer to complete, so we won't need to buy new games so often.
Game sales will fall, developers will collapse, or leave the market, and we'll end up with less choice overall.
Must this really be the price of huge games?
I guess the only way to get a really huge quest will be to go for one that comes in chapters, like Shenmue, that way we get to continue our adventure, and keep the developers happy!

I don't do the maths, by the way.
