Ever since the introduction of Digital television, 'Press Red Button Now' has been a common thing on adverts, and now on television as a whole. Now, I'm up for interaction, don't get me wrong. Its just when it invades my switch off time, then I get annoyed. Interaction in Big Brother, sports, or other reality television is okay, as you can choose aas to whether to watch them - they are targeted products anyway. However, its when 'Press Red Button Now' pops up the whole time for cruises I don't want, and all the plugs for web chats start to appear, I get annoyed. In my book, television (from what little I watch) is about switching off, and just relaxing, intaking information. I don't want to know whos having a live webchat. I won't be able to talk to them properly, so whats the point?
It gets even more annoying with the News. They suddenly seem to assume that people want to jump up and do things - 'you have a voice' is the ironic smiling mouths words. I just want to watch the news, and programmes, without having to think about tihngs with other people. I can think about Iraq in my own head thank you very much.
Sure, people might want to discuss their lives on some interactive Sky thing, and order cruises and cars, but I don't really. I just want to sit down and turn off. I have other places for political discussion and thought, and the like. People might use the TV as such, but I don't. And as such, I use it to relax, not to be bombarded by rubbishy extra features that save little time anyway.
Anyhoo.
Rant over. That sounded really quite lame actualy......
Ah well.
:D
