Yea, but MS had to knock £50 off pretty quickly because it wasn't selling well. A lot of people that paid full price at launch weren't happy about it, so MS gave everyone who bought an X-Box on launch day 2 games of their choice.

£279 isn't steep. The Xbox was £300 when it was first released, so for a machine that is technically far superior plus extras, it's a good deal.
