When a new film hits the cinema screens it is given a certificate. These are U,PG,12A,15,18. Many people complained when spiderman came out because all of the children who watched the cartoon and had the figures were not allowed to go and see their hero in action on the big screen as the cinemas had given it a certificate of 12. This led to many arguments and protesting because the movie didnt really contain much gore except for when the Green Goblin got impaled on the wall by his craft. The government and the cinemas gave in in the end and came up with a whole new genre of certificate which was called 12A. This meant that children who were younger than 12 could go and see the movie if their parents wanted them to see it.

"So what is your point?" I hear you ask!

Well my point is that if you are younger than 12 and you can go and see a 12A certificate movie if your parents say it is 0K why can't there be a 15A or a 18A because more and more films are coming out now that are either a 15 or a 18 and they are all great films. I am 14 and I was looking forward to seeing 'Ghost Ship' until I realised it was going to be an 18. Also I wanted to see 'The Transporter' but that is a 15. I really want to see these fantastic films and so do my friends. Don't the cinemas realise that if they introduce 15A and 18A that they will get more money as more people will go and see the films! If my family wants to go and see a 15, they have to leave me at home so it spoils the night out because the whole family isn't there. We were planning to go and see 'The Matrix Reloaded' as a family but if I don't grow by the time it comes out i won't get in as I am only small.

If anyone is reading this and has connections with cinemas please can they bring this subject up as it really annoys me when someone talks about a film that is a 15 and I haven't seen it because I can't get in! Is anyone else out there who feel like this? Please tell me!

Ok first of all any 14 year old can get into a 15, you must know that. Secondly Ghost Ship looks poo and The Transporter contains a missle being deflected with a cheap metal tray and also looks poo.

Quit your moaning and stop rushing to grow up.

You can also get married and have kids but you can't watch a bit of on screen violence.

Insane.

Errr do you seriously think kids are gonna want to go see an 18 certificate film with their parents?

You can't have 18A and 15A films, you'd have 8 year olds going to see 18 films with their older brother. Do what I used to do, get someone else to buy the tickets, it's the simplest thing.

Either that or wait for it to come out on video.

Oh and Ghost Ship is a load of rubbish.

Actually the BBFC monitor film certficates.

It's bad enough they introduced the 12A cert. Now if I want to go watch a film I have to put up with screaming 8 year olds because the scary Orc lost his head.

And your idea for 15A and 18A certificates...well I won't swear, But that is the stupidest idea of stupid ideas ever.
