Some shows are meant to die and early death and some leave us wondering what the tv company was thinking when it axed that show. Occasionally, tv shows will only go on for one series and then no more are made, even if they gain a cult following. Others are lucky and get a few series before being axed by figure hungry executives.

With the sudden outrage at the news of the Simpsons ending, Fox decided that it was in their best interests to get another few series made. With that in mind, it may well be possible to see the return of other old favourites. There are many programmes I wish I could see brought back for a second chance, some of them may not ever have that chance, but others survive on their cult status for so long that in the end they will be bound to re-surface in a new form. Here are just some of them:

Ultraviolet
-----------
The edgy UK series that ran about the same time as the X-files fever was dying. It was a tale of a secret government agency run to investigate and eliminate vampires. Strangely, the word Vampire is never used in the programme! This ran for one series only, which is a pity because it was one of the few programmes that had a very strong plot AND some good special effects.

There are so many angles this programme could take if another series was made, the vampires could have broken in to sects, each wanting something different, a new virus could be found to infect humans but not vampires, so many different avenues to take, but this may never see another series.

Doctor Who
----------
Some may say that this is better left alone after the TV Movie, but I enjoyed it and it was only that the viewing figures, both in the US and here, were less than expected that they never continued it. Doctor Who has always put storyline first, usually meaning that the effects were often more laughable than scary, but the plot and acting often saw many people glued to their sets, despite the rubber monster suits.

With a bigger budget and better advertising (unlike the one advert for the TV Movie) this could be a big event and the BBC would already have the guaranteed army of cult followers as well as a new audience. Will we see it? Well, it's one of those programmes that will never die and someone at the BBC is always talking about it, so you never know.

Quantum Leap
------------
Although it ran for many episodes, a lot of people thought that this time travelling series, about a man who finds himself in the bodies of other people, ended to soon. In fact, the director also thought that and it has often been said that a movie was in the pipeline.

Quantum Leap was a fresh form of Sci-Fi which could be watched by everyone, a kind of Highway to Heaven, but with attitude and no curly haired angels. There is always the chance that the TV company will relent and make another series, both Dean Stockwell and Scott Bacula have said that they would be happy to do it again.

These are just a few of the series that I feel finished way to early in their life. There are many more, and no doubt you will have your own wish list. So come on, what now-defunct series would you like to see resurrected?

T.V shows always go on too long. Friends should have ended a while ago, as should have Simpsons (Though not as desperately) and Buffy, which is lucky to be in a relatively good state again. Look at the Office and Fawlty Towers. They didn't go on too long, stuck too good stuff, and are remembered as good. Stop when you're winning. Simpsons is really an exception, I guess.

I think Xfiles went through a big lull with all the government stuff. Just when they were getting back on track with the two new agents investigating strange phenomena they go and pull the plug. It could have worked taking it back to the original formula with less of the conspiricy stuff.

I hate it when tv shows finish.. It's typical too because whenever I start watching something decent, I find out about a month later it's finishing!
A few of my faves were Sex and the City, Ally McBeal, and there was another one but I can't remember the name!

Out of those choices, I'd say none :) But only because I never watched them, although I did watch the X files a few of times, I think that was near the end too!
I think they should bring Dr Who back though! :)
