The government are trying to pass a bill where venues of live music MUST have a licence for the music to be played. This does not only cover pubs and clubs, but private hall hire for birthdays and weddings, practice studios if people want to watch rehearsels, in fact, any live performance of a band.

Breaking this can land the venue owner/event organiser jail time or a £20,000 fine.

I got an E-mail that had some stuff about this in from Household Name Records. I signed the petition already, and I heard the law would apparently mean you could (potentially) be arrested for singing happy birthday to someone in a pub (as you would be singing 'Live')
