Xbox Unveiled 06/01/01
Xbox all set for unveiling this Saturday! Internet moles leak fuzzy Xbox pics! Microsoft livid! Dive in for the latest official Xbox info including those all-important launch day plans...
It's been public knowledge for weeks now but finally Microsoft have relented. Yes - 'Jan 6th' will involve some kind of 'Xbox announcement'. Err... thanks...
The evidence is plain to see on Microsoft's official Xbox site www.xbox.com which will be carrying a live broadcast from Bill Gate's appearance at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Yup, CES in Las Vegas will be Xbox's coming out party.
However, Bill's big moment has been spoilt by an unscrupulous sneak leaking pics from American mag Electronic Gaming Monthly and slapping it on the net. The magazine, due to go on sale after the Jan 6th announcement, featured a number of pics and info about the machine and a number of sites ran the pics. Naturally the mag have denied any connection with the leak and Microsoft's legal eagles sprang into action to remove the pics and stop their spread.
Bill Gates will be onstage 9:30am local Las Vegas time and is expected to wax lyrical about how fantastic the machine is before engaging in some demos of the first Xbox games running on pre-production hardware and then finally whipping a sheet of the machine and letting everyone have their first proper gawp at it.
Anyway, he was showning the ability of plug and plag USB ports with a scanner, and as he plugged it in, the computer crashed.
I wish I could have been there to see his face.
