I am on level 1 and I get to the room with the truck.Then my brother dies.There are no enemies in the room.I have triple checked.Is my game messed up?

Dies from what? Is he injured? Use a medipack.
Is he sick? Talk to him. Is he sniped suddenly? Lead him another way. Is he attacked? If something moves, shoot it.
Or is he just very, very old?
