Don't you go into the setup thing just after the computer has booted and assign it there as a drive?

Have you got any floppies that came with the drive?

phew. sorted :) managed to get the machine to boot from the cd rom directly and it suddenly recognised it? crazy pcs...

You need DOS drivers for your CDROM. Most bootdisks have generic drivers on, but some useless examples don't.

If you ever get the problem again, go to www.bootdisk.com. They have a load of bootdisk images you can download, replete with CDROM drivers.

make sure you creat a bootable floppy with cd rom support now mate and keep it safe :)

Tried this, kept getting errors, was wierd. I think it kept saying 'bad filename'?
