I don't entirely blame Sony for the lack of units; they had a few hiccups, but their factories are basically going flat out 24/7 and they still can't keep up. It's just that demand is so high.
The green DVD issue is a major c***-up, though. To plug PS2 as a 'complete' home entertainment system and then have to resort to disabling part of a key feature is a major slip-up. Still, it is - and will remain - the only major system to play DVD's out-of-the-box and without any add-ons, so it's not *all* bad.
As for the 'great' British public - I'd have to agree. We've gotten so used to losing (or at least being 2nd-best) at pretty much everything that we seem to resent success. Well, a majority of us seem to, anyway.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad console, but with the severe shortage of units, and the green DVD playback fiasco Sony deserve a kick from behind!
Also take into account the great British tradition of taking a dislike to anything successfull (the Playstation), and you'll see why Sony get laughed at when they do make mistakes.
