I dont care what console has better hardware. The fact is that people who like sony say that the ps1 had worse hardware than the n64 and it was still more populaur, and then they go and say that the ps2 will be better beacase it has supiror hardware, hmmmmmmm. I am only intresed in good games, so i am gonna buy a gamecube as nintendo make good games that are of supirior qulity to competitors and that is how it always has been. think of sega vs nintendo in the past. The playstation has over 1000 game but only about 45 of these are of any real qulity and only about 5 of them are classic origonal ps games. As for microsoft i feel that they have the power yet are perhaps a little inexperianced. By the way does any 1 no how much the xbox will cost?.

This is an excellent point. In fact it's the main reason why Nintendo were able to dominate the US market, preventing the Amiga and Atari ST from making anything like the impact they could have made, were it not for Mario and chums.
It seems to me these days that the company most likely to succeed is the one which has the most support from the games publishers. That takes confidence and to get that they need to talk big numbers and long term.
It's my guess you'll see all these new consoles launching at £299 to start with but that depends on how long the PS2 price holds up. X-box may need to come out at £199 to compete with PS2.
