Well, its 2001 and my hope is that the games production teams all made a new year's promise to create better games this year and not do too many lazy cash-in attempts. We have seen some top games over the last couple of months, such as Zelda MM, Deus Ex, MSR and Shenmue among many others, but they all seemed to come at the same time (yet again) Lets hope that the new year brings a breath of fresh air and we get a nice spread of good games throughout the year (assuming that the world doesn't end before the year is out!)
There are plenty of improvements that the whole games industry could make in this time of change. Magazines could stop doing good reviews for handouts, there could be less awful sequels (or the same amount of sequels but with something worth paying the extra money for, like new game engines and ideas) and Sega could start thinking about advertising their games for a change. Is this likely to happen? We can only wait and see, but I think the world would be a happier place for gamers if it did, and what better time to start than the beginning of a new year.
So we leave you now, with snow melting into rain, and all the people singing to the tune of Auld Lang syne,
"Should old game engines be forgot
and all lay down to die,
lets say a prayer for gaming fans
and hope the future's bright"

hm! I somehow think this is not going to happen. Call me cynical, but where there's money to be made, people will try anything to produce a quickly created film tie in or whatever.

By the way, I didn't mean for anyone to start singing again (please, no more!) last time there were about 101 posts for songs!
