Okay, my message board problem has been fixed. I can now access the installation file. But, in order to successfully install it, I need some information, but I don't know it. I was kinda hoping you guys could help? the message board is installed at www.colinclarke.freeola.com but please do not use it until I say so. So, I am using Freeola, if that is any help, and the forum I am installing is phpBB 2, if that helps, because some of you may have installed phpBB before. and the information I need help with is:

- Database type.
Options available:
MySQL 3.x
MySQL 4.x
PostgreSQL 7.x
MySQL Server 7/2000
MS Access [ ODBC ]
MS SQL Server [ ODBC ]

- Database Server Hostname

- My database name

- Database username

- Database password

Thanks in advance.

Okay, I just checked InvisionBoard, and it uses databases, so it won't work, so I'll settle for Ikonboard, then.

Thanks for the help guys.

Try ikonboard.com, you can run it with Perl's DB module, ie you can run it on Freeola (I have previously so this is a tested theory).

Theres plenty of decent forums out there that don't require DBs of any form. You'll only find performance a problem when you have large volumes of messages.

YaBB is a forum.

All forums need databases, except ones designed specifically not to require them. These are often poor and slow however.

Freeola supports PHP, I can't find any decent free ones though that will allow databases...

YaBB is a database isn't it?

Basically meaning that you can't install your own forums on there?

Glad I didn't get around to trying!

Do you know of any free hosts that allow .cgi scripts though?
