I write this message waiting for Big Ben to strike midnight and end the year 2000 and begin a new fresh beginning in the shape of the year 2001. The new year also brings a fresh beginning to the gaming world as Playstation 2 begins its first year on the market, and the release of the Nintendo Gameboy Advance. 2001 looks like being an exciting year but will it live up to 2000. The first year of the new Millenium brought us Sega's Dreamcast and many original games, for example Deus Ex and The Sims. Also we were given sequels to top games like Driver and Zelda.
It is though predictable which console will dominate the early part of the year. Sony's next generation console has been compared to the Spice Girls, crap product but sells like hotcakes through great marketing. Sega's Dreamcast has a great range of quality games like the movie budget game Shenmue but still fails to sell, much like many indie rock bands. Next up the N64. The N64 releases very few games but it always seems to have a lot of games up there in the top 20 of the year chart. So the N64 is much like Sting.
Well that is my quick round up of all the year 2000 brought us and what is in store for next year. All I can say now is a Happy New Year to you all and may the year 2001 bring us hours of enjoyable gaming.
