This probably isn't the right forum for this, and it will probably seem really rude as well, but nevermind.

You mentioned in Snuggly's motivation thread that you have Fruityloops. I've been interested in making music on my PC for ages.

So, without beating around the bush, can I have a copy?

If not, don't worry.

Cheers :-)

Just got to their page:

http://www.fruityloops.com/English/frames.html

....under downloads, it's the demo (11mb) it comes with a few samples which are pretty wack.

To be honest though, Fruity Loops is a bit $£%^. I've had it a while and it isn't too hot when it comes to doing exactly what you want. For beginners though it's good, especially for you since your gonna learn about this stuff.

As for software music applications, I've heard Reason is the shizz right now, maybe try that demo as well:

Hey, you can get my email off the pocketmonkey site. I won't be able to upload it until this afternoon, but it's only a 4Mb .zip file for the whole lot so it won't take long!

I would get you on MSN, but I don't think I have your email.

Also, I'm not back at uni yet, so can't spend much time on the 'net :-( This may have to wait until next week when I'm back in Leicester...

Cheers for the help/info so far though.

Fruityloops is about as simple as it can get. Instruments are provided and all you have to do is assign them to a 'beat'. It's more about making drumbeats, but you can use some of the instrument samples it comes with. You can import audio files and you can save as .wav, .midi, all sorts. In short it is a really good sample/beat making program (and it's of small file size, nudge nudge wink wink). Grab me next time I'm on MSN (tomorrow morning sometime) and I'll see what I can do. What's that officer? No, these are for children at the orphanage ah ha ha ha ha ha. Ahem.

I've just realised that I don't know much about the software :-/

Do I have to have my own instruments linked to my computer? Or does it have loads of samples that I can play around with and build up a track from that?

Only I don't have any instruments, and I can't write music...

The more I think about this, the more I realise it may be harder than I thought...

Ho hum....

I am delighted.
Brilliant! As usual the careful and intuitive production that Freeola puts into everything it sets out to do. I am delighted.
Wonderful...
... and so easy-to-use even for a technophobe like me. I had my website up in a couple of hours. Thank you.
