Couldn't the Doc and Marty have saved themselves a lot of trouble in that film?
Before Marty goes into the past to get the Doc, he recieves a letter from the Doc, from the past. The letter tells him where the Doc hid the Delorean in the past so that Marty could find it in the present day, okay, you still with me?
Okay. Now when Marty goes back to the past, he wrecks the Delorean by ripping the fuel line, so they couldnt get fuel, which resulted in them having to come up with all different kinds of ways to get back to the future, by finding different methods to get the Delorean up to 88mph (the speed required for time travel apparently).
Now I know the Chip that powers the Flux Compacitor was broken in the Docs Delorean from the past, this is why he couldnt use it, but Marty had one working in the new Delorean. But at that current time in the past, Marty hadn't found the Delorean that the Doc hid yet, SO MY QUESTION IS THIS.
WHY COULDN'T THEY JUST USE THE DELOREAN THAT THE DOC HID?, because technically the Delorean should still be hidden in that cave, all they had to do was put the working chip in the other Delorean and they would have been home free. Or have I missed something in the story?.

Aspects of time travel movies can really confuse you if you think to hard into them, especialy in Back To The Future and Bill And Ted.
Right, this is annoying me - I guarantee I'll be thinking about it tomorrow when I should be doing my Land Law exam...
Anyway, it's something to do with the rule that any one object is only able to exist once at any one point in time (thus avoiding "loops" which make the world turn inside out or become jelly or something)? Do the Bobs not mention something about this in the commentary, how they ketp changing the rules after they got tired trying to stick to them. Therefore Marty/Doc/Biff can exist twice in 1955 and Marty twice in 2020 (breaking the rules), but the car keeps to the rule.

Because if they use the Delorean the Doc hid it isn't there for Marty in the 50's to get to the 80s to get back to the Doc in 18-whatever and be in the problem he's in. It's one of those 4 dimensional problems. Though it is hard to think through so that could just be rubbish.
