Well maybe not killed it but stopped it form working like it should. I stuck some carboard in the disc drive bit, underneath where the actual disc goes, as I was trying to use a make-shift slide tool. I now think there may be a small piece of cardboard stuck in there that is stopping the drive from closing. I had to pull it open with force. I'm guessing that it is easy enough to remove the disc drive cover once the PS2 is opened up? I just need a really tiny screwdriver I think after having a look.

(I've called myself most insults as a result of doing this but I guess there are quite a few more that everyone can come up with for me....)

Don't forget that cardboard is flammable, so you could try burning* the thing out of your PS2.

*Note: Setting fire to stuff may be unwise. Never mix flame and alcohol.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Many thanks!!
Registered my website with Freeola Sites on Tuesday. Now have full and comprehensive Google coverage for my site. Great stuff!!
