When i save an .asp page on my pc it saves it like an html document so i can look at my work,But when i try to save my page withthe extension ".shtml" it wont even open it doesnt even give the "open with" option when i right click on the icon can some one please help me or am i talking rubbish,I know i wont be able to see the "ssi" untill its uploaded to the server but i would like to see the html thats on the same page.

Try registering the shtml extension to IE in the same way as the html extension. This should work since shtml is parsed at the server end before you get it so there should be no problems with it being shown wrong (I think)
