I've had my eye on it for quite a while before release, because I suck at making emulators work... I mean I morally object to piracy.
It was in a local club. For some reason quite a few of them are setting up a couple of crap consoles in the seating areas.
I was pretty impressed. You know what to expect with the games, and sensible soccer was still a good blast, a billion years on.
I got 2-0 up on a mate before he gave up, and drew 2-2 with some random bloke.
I also went through the first (really easy) island on mega-lo-mania, for old times sake.
Good times.
But the main question mark was over the pad. As ninty know (hopefully), it's imporant to give a console a good pad, if you're going to enjoy playing the games.
Fortunately this beast doesn't disappoint. It's basically a mega-drive pad design, well made, sturdy enough to play, and the buttons and d-pad had a nice feel to them.
From memory, I'd say that in terms of quality it was a significant improvement on the original mega drive's pad.
Thank goodness for that then.
Once I (eventually) get through my backlog of cube games (I've been busy), this will definitely be at the top of my shopping list.
Bar food.

I was playing through the World Cup with England and Rob Jones was my top scorer and not a single one of his goals had come from outside his own half :-)
The Jamie Oliver prototype. How we mourn.
Squeaky voice: "We've nuked them!"
