Guess it had to happen sooner or later. OK Tesco and other supermarkets currently sell PC's etc on behalf of Microsoft etc but this is the first time one has made it's own.

Good or bad?

I personally wouldn't buy one myself until it had built up a reputation, PC technology is a specialist area and I think Tesco are brave to venture into such an area that requires such a specialist skill and the cheaper price wouldn't tempt me.

I hope it takes off though to provide a more competitive market and hopefully drive prices down.

They're not building the PC though, they're just making software (at least, according to that link).

They already sell loads of PCs, though most of them are pretty entry level packages...

Probably a good thing if they're planning to compete with hideously overpriced MS products (presumably that's referring to Office, though it'd be amusing to see them release their own budget operating system).

I wouldn't buy it though, but that's largely because I can quite easily get all the software utilities I have regular need of for free (and legally).
