The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
But what things, apart from shopping does the net have to offer??? People can begin an online social life in chat rooms, and talk to new people. You can find the latest news when you want it. You can find almost any piece of information you desire, and have a laugh. And there’s e-mail!!
But what is on offer from the view of a gamer? Currently, a lot, and soon to be more. More and more PC games come with online multiplayers, and text, voice and video chat within games is increasing. It brings a more sociable aspect to gaming. There are also places like Special Reserve, where people can meet other gamers, and not be called a loner for being one. They can also discuss serious aspects, like violence in games. That’s a lot of things, without mentioning the cheaper prices like SR and the like! There are also news updates, reviews and previews, as well as people like us who’ve played the games, and know about them. And you get this without buying a magazine!!!!
In the future, the internet will be THE place for games, with access not only from PC’s but consoles and handhelds.
So, if people want a traditional Christmas shop, they can, but for us gamers the net is not slowing down!!!

And this obsession with completely free internet, that has to stop too!
Don't you people realise how much work goes into maintaining a network capable of taking all of your internet traffic, as well as millions of voice calls?
Ali's great really.
He must be unfettered in his decision-making.
It will never fool him now...
(Don't be too sure...)
>Ali. If you don't let me win gameaday
>today, then you'll find a certain brown
>envelope in your post tommorrow with certain
>employment details.
Can't argue with that.
As a result most of our competitors are losing sums which are actually higher than their entire revenue from the internet. Take Letsbuyit for example: If you fall for their advertising you might as well trot off to Tesco which is 96 zillion times bigger than they are, and buy in a group to get cheaper buns.
What we need is a dose of realism. You might be able to buy now at heavily subsidised prices but you will not be able to do that when the subsidies run out. Prices, mark my words, will go up. Internet sales will go down.
Meanwhile in the red corner, good ol Special Reserve with its lean and mean approach, which is NOT piling billions into subsidising its operation, will come into its own. Because our prices will still be low.
Our site here delivered 2.4 million pages of last month. That's a lot of pages. I hope we can continue to win our fight against the new kids on the mail order block. I hope they wake up on January 1st to find an e-mail up their in-box from the pensions funds that prop them up, telling them to make a profit - or else!
Anywho.
