I first joined Special Reserve (SR) back in 1993, when the megadrive, supernintendo and Amiga were still household names. Back then videogames were not as mainstream as they are today, but somehow they still cost a mint! There were a few videogame clubs around at the time, all offering the latest games at discounted prices. However SR stood out from the rest because of there no obligation to buy policy, and believe me for a fourteen year old not having to buy six games in your first years membership made a big difference.
So it was that I joined SR, I bought a game ("Titus the Fox" for my Amiga, as I recall!) and claimed my free gift. Back then the free club magazine was called NRG and the free gifts for joining included the "sensuality mousemat", a ploy no doubt to attract the young adolescent male to join the club! Luckily for us the free gifts for joining or renewing membership while purchasing an item have got better.
I continued my membership till 1997, then I left the club, mainly because I was starting university and videogames weren’t top priority at that stage in my life.
Then earlier this year (2000), I saw an advert in a national newspaper from SR. Basically for a mere £6.99 I could join the club and get "Turok Rage Wars" for N64 for free, this was an offer not to be missed. Especially since I had £4 credit on my SR account when I left in 1997.
And so, a week later I was again a member of SR with a brand new copy of "Turok Rage Wars", and all for only £2.99 (£6.99 – £4). Of course once a member of SR I received the new club magazine (The imaginatively titled SR club magazine!). That’s how I found my way to this website, and its numerous forums, were I can express my views with like minded individuals.
On this site you can get the latest information on the best games, electronic equipment and videos and other things from the gurus of SR, as well as reading the views of individuals like yourself who regularly comment on their purchases. SR is a great club who have impressed me immensely, not just because of their service but also because of the fact that they have never ever sent me junk e-mail (I hate junk mail!). I would recommend this club to all of you out there who haven’t joined yet, plus if you visit www.gameaday.co.uk, you can win a videogame of your choice each day just for expressing views like mine. Soon there will be filmaday as well, so all you film addicts will get a chance to win a DVD of your choice each day. So if you want to join a club which doesn’t send you loads of junk mail, that has a large membership, a great website, great freebies and discounted prices on the latest games and videos then look no further than Special Reserve.

I make special reserve special because I'm so special that it runs off here.

Here's a test, if you disagree, you're immature.

Sorry I offended you guys, but seriously Im impressed with the club, you can get some decent freebies when you join or renew and purchase an item at the same time, and the freebies aint bad... Ready 2 Rumble for the PS1 is hardly a bad game!!!
I was also pleased with the customer service, I have no idea how I got 4 pounds of credit but years after I left the club, and their system was updated and they had no record of my previous membership...I just sent in a photocopy of my last membership statement and they gave me back my 4 pound credit.

Come on people, I know you have positive things to say about the club????

And yes I am blatantly trying to win a game, the charity appeal is still on and the kids need another game!

Does anyone remember when Special Reserve gave their 1 millionth member a Car for free, Sniper Isnt that the 1 millionth post on the forum,...Tony what does he get????

Sorry about that but that was what i call a lecture, i was not making SR seem like a rubbish dump i was just making a point. We need something new and different in this forum besides Console wars, poems, songs and everything else we've repeated over 10 times.

Hi snooch woah you've turned into someone strange swearing weirdo now! What's happened to you?
And Jimmy save the advert for when you work for them, but this is not the Future of gaming or any kind of gaming this is more like English homework on ads! (no offence to SR)

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
