Good points:
Its a Bond game.
It runs on the COD 4 engine.
Errrr.... thats about it.
And the bad:
Uninspiring graphics.
Annoying switch between 1st to 3rd person viewpoints during play.
Worst combat system of any game EVER !!! (tells you which buttons to press, when to press them and in which order).
Some quite noticeable slowdown
Multiplayer mode isn't that great, its certainly no Goldeneye.
Duck, cover shoot system is blatantly stolen from Gears Of War.
Overall,Quantum Of Solace is not a terrible game its just a slopply movie tie in which could and should have been much better than this.Everything on offer here has all been done better before.A definite try before you buy IMO as I was bored of it after an hour.
However, if you want a real challenge, stick it on 007 difficulty, it's akin to COD4 Veteran in terms of how many times you're going to die but slightly easier in that if you kill something you don't have to make it to an invisible checkpoint to stop more somethings spawning.
I thought the 'takedowns' (run up to any enemy and kill them with one well-timed button rather than pulling the trigger) were the game's neatest feature. The rest of it was bog-standard FPS which isn't really my genre. In some of the older games in the series there were 'Bond Moves' whereby you could do something particularly cool just like 007 would rather than just going in guns blazing, these are replaced by Achievements on the whole, e.g. opening the cellar doors on the first level by shooting the enemy above them with one bullet so he falls down through them.
Overall it was fun for several hours getting through the storyline, but going back for the achievements feels like a real chore. Online is functional but the player characters can sometimes look like they're sliding around on ice (slippy feet syndrome). I only tried it out for a few games and didn't get hooked so haven't been back since.
Noticed it was by treyarch after loading it up...so explains a lot.
Hopefully COD5 will be better than this.
