Okay I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good free visual C++ compiler with an inbuilt linker. I've been looking around the net and at the moment I've only managed to find out that Microsoft Visual C++ and Borland C++ Builder offer this. I tried to download Borland C++ Builder from their site, installed to a directory but it all seemed to want to do was work through dos and to be honest I didnt have a clue what to do. So, are there any good free Visual C++ compilers or are they all priced extremely high =[

djgpp is the classic free compiler: www.delorie.com/djgpp/ I used to use it, but when I upgraded to XP it became incredibly unstable. You might have more luck. DevC++ is good, and has a GUI a la Visual C++: www.bloodshed.net. Other than that, you could try buying a programming book - they sometimes come with introductory editions of Visual C++. Or you could install Linux, which has a ton of excellent, and free, development tools.
