I recently purchased a Freecom Classic CD-RW Recorder External connected through a USB cable and have been having trouble formating CD-RW's. Its gets two minutes into verifying the disk and then prompts me with: -

Error: Write Data

Illegal start block sender address. Drive reported an unknown error.
You will not be able to read or write to the CD through drive letter access.

Whats happened, the drive letter for the drive was E: and I changed it to F: to see if that would make a difference but nothings worked so far. I used the supplied software, Roxio Easy CD Creator and Direct CD that came with it to format the disk but so far it wont allow me to write to the CD-RW in the drive or format it properly.

Any help, Cheers.

I had a similar problem using Roxio software (on an Internal Liteon CD Burner), I would download Nero and give that a go, if that doesn't work, then try getting advice phoning a SR Shop PC Technician, they are quite knowledge-able.
Otherwise it's the dreaded manufacturers website or customer service phone number - good luck !
