OK, so about the only real movement on the next gen-front was the PS2 getting launched (miserably). But it meant that one of my highlights of the year was playing on my step-brother's PS2 and seeing how good the next generation will actually be. I'm definitely getting one.

THE highlight of the year for me, in the gaming world that is, apart from finishing Final Fantasy VIII for the umpteenth time (sad, I know, but I love that game), was kinda strange. It was meeting you guys in here. I've been trying to find likeminded souls for ages, and now that I have stumbled across this forum (asylum?) I'm here to stay. So tough. You ain't getting rid of me that quick.

Other notable events were the development of my PC gaming skills, because since upgrading, the likes of Unreal Tournament, Half Life, Diablo II and other great games have become more accessible to me. Although really still a PC novice, I'm quite getting into it and spending more and more time on PC gaming than I am on consoles. It's not that I'm deserting consoles altogether, it's just that my eyes have been opened to the possibilities of what my PC can actually do in terms of entertainment. So all in all, a good gaming year.

What were YOUR highlights, and why? And please, let's try to keep this a serious topic. It would be nice to round off the year in the forum on a proper note. (Tempting fate or what?)

Good topic.

It's nice to hear that you're getting into PC games now. It's not like closing the door on consoles, but more like opening more windows.

Anyway. The announcment of the Gamecube in August has to be the most exciting thing that has happened this year, for me, anyway. A glace at the future, if only a very small one.

Also, coming to this forum, as well. It's great to be able to actually talk to people with simular interests once in a while.
